For as long as I can remember, I have found it incredibly difficult to understand why people think they can have an opinion on who we choose to love. 🌈 Standing up with and for the Queer community as been an important part of my personal and professional life.

I’m a cis-hetero woman, from the white middle class and I am aware and learning more about my privilege each and every day. That being said, I have the privilege of being able to give to a community that I see continually receiving hate and enduring mental health struggles.

In Winnipeg there is an incredible centre called the Rainbow Resource Centre. They offer support groups, therapy, programming, presentations, connection, safety and more to the Queer community in Manitoba. I can not say enough good things about RRC. As a teacher in Winnipeg, I have been able to participate in several workshops and continue to learn about how to make our schools safer places for all.

Since 2019 I have been making rainbows, and in 2020 one of my rainbows was gifted to my client’s family member who used this rainbow to come out to their mom. I was blown away, and wanted to create more that could support the 2SLGBTQI+ community, specifically youth.

For each Rainbow Punch Patch sold, the proceeds will be donated directly to Camp Aurora, a youth camp in Manitoba for queer kids to feel safe, accepted, valued and know they are not alone on their journey.

Thank you for supporting Fibird and allowing me to give back to community 🌈✨🌈
